In addition, the university has initiated mandatory online training on sexual and gender-based harassment. The program, “Cultivating a Culture of Respect: Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Awareness,” provides employees with information about maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and equitable working and learning environment free from sexual harassment and misconduct.

The online educational program is the first step in a multi-layered approach designed to have a lasting impact. Other efforts include the option to participate in the workshop, “Creating Climates Resistant to Sexual Harassment: A Toolkit for Academic Leaders.”

“All incidents that impact an individual’s ability to work in a respectful and inclusive environment free from harassment should be reported,” Dr. Bradford said. Reporting should include the respondent’s name, the date, and a description of the incident, as well as whether or not there were any witnesses. The reporter can choose to remain anonymous, if desired. —Karen Appold
